Jamie and Ryohe were the ones who made this hostel special. Courteous and friendly. Such lovely people to talk to. The hostel looks like you're staying in a traditional Japanese home. So inviting with such warmth. Facilities were great. I love the color and ambiance of this hostel. Hope to stay here again if I return to Shuzenji in Izu.

APA Hotel Hakodate Ekimae

Near most touristic attractions, near the station, nice staff, quiet. Bed was good ( not hard, rare for japan ). Pretty much your standard modern APA hotel. Big plus is that you get some wooden panels to protect the room from the sunrise (which can be as early as 3:50 in the morning...), guaranteeing you a good night of sleep.

At the end of my stay the AC had a weird scent, but it didn't bother me much.

Great Facilities, the onsen bath was relaxing. Lovely view from my bed corner to the garden. Most of all, staff/Manager is so friendly and courteous and helpful with local recommendations. Great view of Atami city and beach, especially at night. Overall, it was a lovely place to stay in Atami.

We stayed in the new Onrinkaku wing. Clean and spacious. There were 2 outdoor spas to enjoy. Breakfast had a good selection

Would have liked an alacarte Japanese restaurant option at the hotel but only smorgasbord available. Hard to find a nearby good quality restaurant to go to

Location is very convenient with 2 train stations within walking distance. There are heaps of nice eateries around.

We didn't know that the property was on the second floor. It was a bit of a surprise. Also, the room's curtain is a bit mouldy.

Booked for 3 people over 6 months in advance and they gave us 1 bed. The most uncomfortable sleep for 4 nights. Asked for a quiet spot for business purposes for 1 hr, did not accomodate, they said they had no business facilities. For this reason I booked different accommodation for future stays yet I discovered they certainly do have facilities that they did not offer. Definitely will stay somewhere different in Osaka next time.
