Beautiful little island, very lively!
Beautiful little island, very lively!
The bright colors of the building and the nice sunset views by the water are a great + to this place, and it is very easy to get around
I recommend trying out the street food @tacospeches, very good and super cheap
The town is located 1h30 drive from the ruins of Tikal, and up to 6 shuttles leave daily to get you there
Would recommend around 3 days in Flores!

The island has really noce restaurants and night activities.
The island has really noce restaurants and night activities. it is really easy to get around and people is willing to help you with directions.
Prices are much higher on the island, so is better to buy the stuff you need (sun block for example) outside of Flores.
We had a local guide that took us for the sunrise on tikal were you get to enter the park at 4AM and walk in the jungle still at night.
Then we did the sunset in Yaxha which is amazing.
Flores is a 10 min drive from the airport, so its a really good point for staying.

Loved the walk around Flores and all the little shops.
Loved the walk around Flores and all the little shops. Great ice cream place on lakeshore. Yummy !
When we got tired from walking after 5 miles that day( not all there) we hired a tuk tuk to bring us back to the hotel. Will definitely be returning there for a longer stay.
Boat tours looked interesting for a future adventure.
We drove and had to get used to the one way streets to get around Flores and find our hotel but so worth the effort. Parking was not an issue though. We parked at hotel and took off on foot

Airlines are a mess.
Airlines are a mess. Avianca overbooked my flight into Flores and was booked the next day. Tag Airlines delayed 2 hours and 15 minutes my flight into Guatemala City. I have been seating at the airport in Flores over 4 hours and I am expected to get to Guatemala City around 0:30 Am (I was supposed to arrive at 10:15 pm)

The island of flores is small and easy to walk. sunset views...
The island of flores is small and easy to walk. sunset views are very good from rooftop bars / restaurants. All are within 5 -10 minute walk.
We chose to take a lake ride to El Mirador and then to the beach Playa Chechenal.
Many sites are available to take day trips .These can be very long days especially to Tikal. We went to Tikal independently and it is highly recommended. I would recommend at least 1 night if not two.
We stayed inside the park at Tikal Inn. It has air conditioning and a swimming pool , we were very pleased and staff is great.
Mayan spirit is a small haven right outside Flores where you can enjoy the lake on a private beach with hammocks
The staff is incredibly nice and friendly as well as reactive when you need them (shoutout to Kevin)
Being away from Flores island makes it really quiet and relaxed, which makes it a really good balance with the city, it was really an amazing place to stay ! Just be careful and plan not to come back too late in the evening, lancha trips are charged after 9pm and the later the more expensive
Thanks for everything ☺️
We were afraid we couldn't reach the hotel. The roads in San Miguel are pretty crummy. But Erik guided us to safety! Brenda, who is the chef, made some of the best meals we had in Guatemala - if you stay there definitely try her tamales they're exceptional. Peter, the owner, was a great presence and offered interesting information about the history of the area and what we could explore. This is a place where all concerned genuinely want you to have a good time.
The hotel and its location are unique for those seeking tranquility in a beautiful and secluded place that is not captured by the great hustle and bustle of Flores or Tikal. The entire complex with its bungalows and houses is excellently maintained and tastefully decorated. From the balconies one has a view of the lakes. Due to the seclusion, it is not only very quiet at night, but also so dark that the place is ideal for observing the night sky.
Very good location, the sunset, eating and pubs were a 3 minute walk away. A store and eating places beside the hostal as well. Cold beer cheaper at the store then other places.. Walk across the steet with your beer and your sitting looking at the water. Bed comfortable, AC and WIFI good. Not all streets easy to get to in Flores. The taxi from the airport dropped me off very close to the hostal. Location location location and for a good rate.
best description is Travellodge of the area. room is worn and attempted to be clean, and relative to other guatemalan standards probably “fine”. went into the room and had a cockroach run across the bed. bathroom shower curtain and bathroom had mold, etc.
we didn’t eat at the hotel nor use pool. had only one night stay and we’re leaving in the AM and “coped” - if we had been staying longer would have beeen an issue
The room had the best view. Lesbia was a fantastic host and sorted out our tickets. On arrival, we were concerned that we were across the lake, but we whatsapp to Lesbia, and she sent a boat to collect us. Its easy to get across. The local restaurant was great home cooked food and really cheap.. The room was huge with 2 double beds and really clean. The access to a kitchen was a bonus which was also spotlessly clean.
Everything. I had an excellent room with a view of the water. Very clean and comfortable. I ate at the restaurant for 3 days because it was so good and the prices so good. Close to everything. I swam in the lake. Looks like they are completing a roof top area which will make this Hotel even better. They clearly know what they’re doing at Hotel Casa Amelia! I highly recommend
This hotel is a very quality mid-range property in the Petén region of Guatemala. The services like housekeeping here are very good, and the amenities like the pool and bar were greatly appreciated. Particularly due to the sky-high temperature the AC felt amazing! Overall, I'm glad we booked our stay here.
The grounds are room were wonderful. We had one of the luxury cabins on the lake. One of the best showers I have ever seen! The restaurant was pretty good and had a nice setting. The kids enjoyed the "mini pool." The larger pool was all very deep so difficult for young children to enjoy.
Great location, marvellous views of Lake Petén Itza. AC works great and much needed as temperatures have reached 100F each day I've been here. Very close to water taxis, bars, restaurants and eateries. Wonderful place to stay in Flores island. Highly recommended.
The ad pictures.
The breakfast offered in Hotel Petén was good. Don't get confused, this hotel is extremely loud too.
This company owns fours hotels on the island and all of them either are extremely noisy, have a humidity level above acceptable or both.
The hotel is centrally located on Flores, and has all the necessary facilities. The reception staff were very kind, welcoming and patient. The restaurant staff were attentive and polite. We had a large clean room and plenty of fresh clean water.
The location is amazing, very peaceful next to the water and just 5 min away from the more busy Flores. You can swim in front of the pier.
Kevin is the best! he always picked us up with his boat.
Staff is very nice and friendly
Nice hotel on the coast of Peten Itza lake. Location is good, within walking distance to Flores town center. Stuff was polite and helpful, WiFi was working well. Food was good. Overall, it is a good place to stay in Flores.
The view is the best, spacious room, hot water in the room and delicious coffee every morning. the staff and property is not as the bad reviews say. I would stay 10 more times at this hotel. it is my favorite
best thing about this hostel was the people I met there ♥️. The location is perfect. Hostel is clean, comfortable beds, drinking water available and kitchen. Very simple but cute :)
One of the best accommodations I had on the island. This is a 10/10 recommendation. The rooms are REALLY clean. They are modern and it feels very fresh and properly made.
I had a wonderful stay in this tiny hotel! The staff and the owner were really nice and they did their best to make my stay even better. The rooms were also clean!
