Set in the quiet countryside of Eastern Iceland, these basic cottages are 7 minutes’ drive from the village of Vopnafjördur. It provides a kitchenette and free toiletries. We loved our stay!! The hosts are great and very welcoming. We had everything we needed, there was even a smart TV with Netflix which was a delightful surprise. The breakfast was also very good. We totally recommend!!

We spent a wonderful night there. However, you have to drive on a gravel road for 30 mins. But it is worth to do that.

On the banks of the Fossá River just 30 km from Egilsstadir, this hotel offers bright rooms and cottages. A homemade breakfast including jams, bread and lamb pâté is served each morning. Beautiful facility. Location out in the country. Nice breakfast.

Húsey Hostel & Horsefarm features accommodation 55 km from Egilsstadir. The hostel has family rooms. At the hostel the rooms include a shared bathroom with a shower. This was the most wonderful place to stay. The hostel is a hundred year old home maintained to its true character. The farm is in the most beautiful, isolated area. More than horses, it offers nature walks. I was only sorry I didn't stay longer. Very unique experience and loved it.
