When my driver edged up the narrow-inclined driveway of this very modern home, I didn’t know what to expect. But Pearle and her husband Ranjan greeted me with broad smiles and open arms. After they had retired, they built this sophisticated home on their family’s property. Since the terrain of Matale is mostly mountainous, their home is perched up high on a small hill, allowing a beautiful view of the city from their wide terrace. Communication was swift and efficient as their daughter fielded email questions from the UK. English was spoken perfectly by all members of the family, so no worries for any miscommunication. I had arrived in the late afternoon and Pearle offered me tea. Ranjan returned with some short eats and we sat around chatting. The conversation was easy and I felt like I was visiting good friends for the afternoon. My room was located just off their living room with an adjacent bathroom with contemporary fixtures – it felt like I was in a fancy hotel! The stylish room with extremely high ceilings was spacious and tastefully decorated with an enormous mosquito net tied with ribbons around the large four poster bed. There is a portable air conditioner/fan which was not really needed as the evenings are usually cool and temperate. Breakfast was a luxurious feast with red rice string hoppers, potato curry, dal, green gram and a delicious, spicy chicken curry. Watermelon, pineapple, and sweet juicy papaya from their garden rounded out the meal. After retirement, Pearle turned her interests to cooking and she is certainly an accomplished cook! My only regret was staying only one night and will certainly come back for a longer visit!

Riverston Nature Villa está a 41 km de Centro comercial Kandy City Centre y ofrece alojamiento con restaurante, jardín, salón de uso común y terraza. The super friendly and very communicative owner gave good tips for hiking and showed us a nice waterfall nearby. Our highlight was that he organized a night-out in the village, showing us around the rice fields and the temple and serving us amazing local food in the village in the traditional way. If you are looking for a great local experience in the nature you came to the right place!

Wild Glamping Knuckles - Thema Collection, que tiene vistas a la montaña, dispone de alojamiento con jardín, terraza y restaurante a unos 32 km de Estadio Internacional de Críquet de Pallekele. Amazing experience amidst beautiful nature! The tents are very cozy, and everyone from the staff is absolutely great! We can highly recommend the place 🥰

Gammaduwa Bungalow se encuentra en Matale, a 50 km de Centro comercial Kandy City Centre, y ofrece alojamiento con bicicletas gratis, parking privado gratis, jardín y salón de uso común. Stayed for 3 nights and this was our favourite place during our Sri Lanka trip. Homely feel and amazing food and service. Enjoyed the library and endless cups of excellent tea. Our room was comfortable and clean, lots of hot water. Wifi worked very well in the library area. Tea tasting was interesting and some nice walks in the area. Thanks to Dave and the staff for a memorable stay :)

El Palapathwela Ross Estate Junction , The Inn at Matale" se encuentra en Matale y ofrece alojamiento cómodo tanto para viajeros locales como extranjeros. Dilini is an amazing host, she recommended us nice spots in Knuckles Forrest Reserve. I would definitely recommend to stay in Matale for more than 1 night and visit Knuckles as much as possible, the nature is really beautiful (although good to have a driver or a car to visit all the spots). Also, the room was very clean with all the needed facilities. Special thank you to Dilini for making a delicious cappuccino during the breakfast!

Sarath and his family are the most welcoming and amiable hosts we had on our journey in Sri Lanka. The lodging is on top of a hill and inside a plantation so you are all surrounded by beautiful nature. As part of the plantation Sarath and his family are growing their own coffee and spices from which Sarath's wife cooked a most delicious breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed our stay at Plantation Retreat very much and will never forget the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. We can very much recommend a stay here.

El Hatale Tea Estate Bungalow se encuentra en medio de exuberantes plantaciones de té, a solo 1 km del Hatale Tea Centre. Es un sitio impresionante, entre montañas y plantas de te. Te sientes como en una película, en la era colonial. El personal del hotel es encantador y atento de cualquier alquiler cosa. La comida excelente. La visita a la factoría de te es muy interesante. Allí compramos varios kilos del mejor te a buen precio. Perfecto para perderse unos días y respirar naturaleza.

El Strathisla Guest House ofrece vistas impresionantes a la naturaleza, una piscina al aire libre y una zona de barbacoa. Además, cuenta con conexión Wi-Fi gratuita en todas sus instalaciones. We loved to stay at the strathisla guesthouse. The view is amazing, the garden with the pool perfect, the staff really friendly and welcoming. We appreciated the tasty food. Definitely a place we would come back.
