Perfect location for an overnight stop south but l’Ancre Vive is much more than that. It is a much loved, historic home, run by people who truly love it and who have impeccable taste and serve the best breakfast ever. Dominique is also just charming and so easy to talk to. I liked how well maintained and taken care of the hotel was. every detail in the rooms had been thought of, such as plenty of hooks for the towels, a nice little desk, and the room was not large but very practical. I also really liked the location, I was on foot yet able to do everything: go for a jog near the river, shop in Fnac across the street and walk to town and restaurants very easily…. I also loved the mineral water at breakfast buffet. They didn’t cheap out and that was appreciated. Also the rooms open to the outside which I loved… I was able to open the door in the morning and breathe the fresh air and hear the rain.

Location was good for exploring Beaujolais region as it was somewhat in the middle.
Dinner there on our first night was good. But only available M-F then you have to drive min 15 mins for restaurant.
