Riverside Lodge Hotel, hotel in Irvine

Located on the outskirts of Irvine, Ayrshire, Riverside Lodge Hotel is only 7 miles from Prestwick Airport. Just 2 miles from the sandy beach, there is also a stylish restaurant.

The staff are very helpful at reception.I hadnt pressed a room for 2 and phoned to confirm the mix up and a staff member rectifyed this immediately for me.I thought the deal for 2 nights with dinner was excellent value. The rooms have been updated with new wallpaper however the furniture hasn't.Its very mixed and matched. They used to have fridges in rooms also which was great but they took these away.Room was cold as well as radiator and whistled if you tried to turn on so it was not working but we used extra duvet from the another bed luckily. One bed was newer so slept in it but the other was sunken in middle and had springs sticking out.So couldn't sleep in it. Had dinner both nights at hotel.First night was excellent.Enjoyed a beef stew however second night tried cujun chicken pasta which was awful. It was chewy chicken like an old sole of a shoe.I couldn't eat anything but the garlic bread. We also had cocktails which were lovely however quite pricey and one was half spilled by waitress. Alot of staff in the restaurant but can be slow at times especially with head manager gossiping instead of serving.Older lady who was waitresses was fantastic and so helpful. Breakfast is help yourself buffet.Plenty to eat and lots coming out.Great value and very impressed. Enjoyed our stay just a few bits that could do with being sorted but we always love to come for a stay and again most of the staff are lovely I'm the building.

There is plenty of choice for eating and drinking.

There is plenty of choice for eating and drinking. All tastes are catered for with restaurants and take-aways as well as cafes and coffee shops. Walking around felt safe and was pleasent with good architecture to admire. The main shopping centre had plenty of choice with abundant parking as well.

The shops in town and The Rivergate Shopping Centre are all within fairly easy walking distance. Hamiltons, 2 High St. The Carrick 112 High St and Adesso, 6 Glasgow Vennel are all good eating places but there are plenty of cafes and takeaways to suit everyone. The Harbour area is a good place to spend some time at.

Has to be the beach and other surrounding beaches.

Has to be the beach and other surrounding beaches. We stayed in a heat wave which was fantastic. I know Irvine as I grew up there and was back visiting family. Some lovely restaurants and bars. Lots of different dog walking areas and a lot of dog friendly beaches. Visited Troon, Largs (Viking festival was on) Ayr (Ayr Show was on) and various other locations of interest.

Lovely historic town, home of the Scottish Maritime Museum.

Lovely historic town, home of the Scottish Maritime Museum. We stayed at Harbourside which was very quiet. Very friendly place, we ate at the Ship Inn, they were fantastic hosts, beautiful food and dog friendly. They even gave us some milk for our morning coffee because we couldn’t find a shop open and it was getting late. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to explore the area much, we had to move on

I only booked because I was desperate and stayed elsewhere when I got the chance. I found interactions with payman were Intrusive. I was given no option but pay upfront, nonrefundable. In future if no other accommodations are available I will stay home. There are excellent places to stay in the area so I am surprised anybody wants to stay at Irvine Riverside Guest House. I have stayed there before and did not enjoy my stay!

Our whole stay was excellent. Diana was so friendly and helpful and the breakfast choice was superb. It is so near to the centre of the town, which is also really nice, with a very interesting harbour area. We felt as if we had come to stay with a friend in their home.
