Puerto Barquerizo Moreno is a great center of San Cristobal where you encounter sea lions on the beach along the main street. It is also full of charming restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops where prices are more reasonable than Santa Cruz.

I enjoyed walking in direction to Bahia Tijeretas, Playa Baquerizo, Playa La Loberia, Las Negritas view and also to the local mine near the airport. The evening / dinner in The Pier restaurant was excellent. The afternoon trip to El Junco volcano, Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado was not worth the money, although swimming near Playa Puerto Chino was nice.

I came for a volunteer trip during which we did the 360 boat...
I came for a volunteer trip during which we did the 360 boat tour (snorkeling in 3 locations) and a trip to the highlands together (2 separate days). I stayed 3 extra days alone, which is either not enough or just enough depending on what you want to do. I do NOT recommend staying the entire time on San Cristobal because you’ll run out of things to do but I found out too late that a day trip to Santa Cruz is better if you can dedicate 1.5-2 full days (depart a 7 am and return the next morning or afternoon). A same day trip only gives you about 7 hours before you have to return. To go to Isabela requires 2 separate boat trips and at least half a day (not sure about Española but it is currently closed). You can visit all the major beaches in 1-2 days but anything else on the island requires a booked boat trip so if you want to snorkel in every single spot you need to spend probably 5 days minimum. Snorkeling every single day isn’t for me so depending on your interests, plan accordingly.
Except for Playa Mann, most of the beaches are a little far and/or require a hike over lava rocks to access so bring good walking shoes over sandals if you have to pick.
Overall after 3 more days I was bored and ready to leave, but if I had more time to visit the other islands I would probably have felt differently!

The town is compact and convenient for travelers.
The town is compact and convenient for travelers. Only 10 minutes walk from the airport to downtown. Most of hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, beaches locate within a 10-15 minutes walk distance. Beaches are full of wild animals such as sea lions, pelicans, iguanas, crabs, and fishes. The climate is quite comfortable. Safe to walk even in night time.

It is a nice, peaceful city. People is friendly and helpful. Local authorities have a good Information Office that is ready to help you to get around. Restaurant Giuseppe is exceptionally good. Sea wolves will be found in every beach and giant Galapagos turtles can be seen in a nursery, designed for conservation. There are nice natural places reachable with a short walk. There are good places for diving and snorkeling.

I liked Playa Mann a lot.
I liked Playa Mann a lot. Very convenient and economical for lunch and coffee. Lots of sea lions which are tame! A great way to get around is to hire a bike......about 15 bucks per day. Great walks and sightseeing via El Centro de Interpretation. This is the starting point for some great beaches and snorkelling.

It is a very nice hotel, just a 10-minute walk from the center and port and a 15-minute walk from the airport. The staff of the place are extremely friendly and ready to help you with everything. The breakfast is decent - a fruit salad, egg, bread, and juice, which changes daily. The Internet was okay compared to other experiences in the Galapagos. The room has an AC, which is a must when staying in the summer. Overall, it is a great value for the money.
The hotel was great, ir was located very close to the pier, the breakfast was super good and when we had to travel to another island and we had pur breakfast payed for everyday they pack a box meal for your trip on boat pr plane to another island.
Of you come from the continent you can bring your water milk, yogurt or anything you like because the rooms have small refrigerators. And every room has a built In safe no cost for your valued items
The owner and his sister were so personable and friendly and welcoming
we liked the feel of a very small boutique type hotel and we had a great little balcony overlooking the boats - water
Two hammocks and some chairs to relax on the porch -great AC
I thought the breakfast was one of the best I had the entire 24 days of our journey through Ecuador -everything was fresh and locally sourced and homemade
kudos to the kitchen and cooks
- Casa de Nelly is a family run place close to the northern end of Puerto Baquerizo Morenos malecón
- Rooms are spacious if you're travelling as a couple, though they're designed for bigger groups
- Breakfast was cooked fresh to order and was very flexible - the day before you could advice the time you needed breakfast, which was great to accomodate the respective start dates of our day tours
Puerto Baquerizo is a small city,
We walked from the airport to the hotel. The hotel was clean, nice owners, no TV, no breakfast, free water refill . Some blocks far from the malecon, but there were nice restaurants around d the corner. There is a night club in the corner, people complain about the noise, but for me that was not an issue. Overall was fine
The hotel is family run, clean and quiet. It is only a 10 minute walk from the airport and a 10 minute walk to downtown. There are many inexpensive, good restaurants in the immediate area. You can save a lot of money staying here, rather than paying more for a downtown hotel. Save your money for the Galapagos tours.
This family-run hotel comes with a sizeable room and a pleasant courtyard where they serve breakfast. Hostal Romy provides an old-fashion, convenient laundry area where you can wash your sweat-soaked clothes and dry them under the tropic sun.
The hotel is beautifully designed. I appreciated the outdoor rack for drying our swimwear and the outdoor water spray to wash off any sand remaining on shoes from the beach. The filtered tap water for teeth brushing was a great surprise!
The staff staff, the location, the bed and the pillows. The large shared terrace outside of my room great for relaxing after a day of touring. The hotel was very quiet despite being in the center of town and close the port.
Clean, simple, great view, easy walk to the docks. Hotel staff was incredibly helpful with airport pickup, booking excursions and providing advice for things to do/restaurants.
Hotel Katarma was kept to a good standard. The rooms were clean, the pool area albeit small was very nice. The owner and the staff that we met were very helpful and friendly.
the staff was knowledgeable and helpful and very friendly. it was a true bed and breakfast feel. it never felt like a hotel, it felt like a home and i always felt very welcome
