Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was a strong smell of smoke at the entrance to our hallway and followed along a little which was unpleasant and our shower unfortunately was only scalding hot - we had to turn on the taps at the sink to try and bring down the temperature (We made reception aware at checkout as this would harm someone with sensitive skin or a child).
Great location, bed was comfortable and very convenient as a stop when travelling. It was very affordable. Ample parking with an overflow area too, seemed like a great venue for larger groups/conferences and events.

United KingdomLong check in…. Although I was first in the queue, it took 20 minutes and I was in a hurry! Also, when I came down for breakfast, at 0920, having paid £20, I was told by an older lady ,”You’ll have to. Have what’s left on the buffet, as we close at 0930!” I did tell her that , if it’s till 0930, I should be able to arrive at anytime up to 0929 and expect full service. I was left with cereal and toast! One other thing, it was a very long walk to my bedroom!!
Location, spacious rooms, comfy bed

United KingdomA very long walk from reception to the room. Food in the bar was over priced and not great quality. Bar staff seemed to be on a social outing rather than at work. Pretty unprofessional behaviour from them.

United KingdomThe swimming pool was very cold, we were advised that the pump had gone after mentioning the temperature to a staff member. However when we first attended the pool and signed in nothing was mentioned, we were travelling with a 2 and 7 year old so it took a long time to enter the pool to try and adjust to the temperature and then we had to leave as the youngest was shivering so much. My husband had returned to his locker and was unable to access with the code, he had to go to gym reception wet and cold with a towel to find that staff had reset the code as another member got confused which locker was theirs, resulting in it being reset, it would have saved a lot of unnecessary anxiety if they had put a note on the front to advise he needed to speak to a staff member to access it.
Beautiful estate, grounds are spectacular. Shower in room was very powerful, amenities smelt amazing as you would expect from penhaligon's products.

United KingdomThe newer bedroom blocks are very ordinary and disappointing and beds not as comfortable as Premier Inn.In general the staff throughout are lovely, apart from Ella supervisor in the restaurant she ,was downright rude to both me and my partner not what we would expect from any hotel let alone one of this supposed calibre. She needs an attitude, lesson ,is nt the customer always right ? She almost spoilt our evening. We waited a long time for our water and wine even before our starters arrived. Our table was booked for 7.30 and it was over an hour later we received either ??
The central old part of the hotel including the public rooms and grounds are very nice. Ian ,the concierge was tremendous, friendly, well in formed ,extremely helpful, without being asked he's a treasure. Thank you .

United KingdomThe hotel was starting to feel a bit run down. A flashing light in the corridor was left. In the bedroom the shaver socket was broken. There was no literature in the room to explain the hotel and its facilities such as opening times for restaurant and pool, menus
The staff we had any dealings with were polite, engaging and responsive. They made us feel welcome. The breakfast had a great range. There was plenty of parking.

United KingdomThe breakfast was ok but not the amazing selection that was promised in other reviews. I was disappointed that there was no fresh bread other than the standard sliced loaves that go in the toaster. This felt sub par in comparison to other De Vere Hotels. The property is a little old fashioned and in need of updating in places.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel setting was lovely. The location was great within easy reach of Holmes Chapel, Jodrell Bank and the motorway!! Lots of places to sit around the hotel and good parking.
